Canadian Chemistry Contest


     

  • Canadian Chemistry Contest: Designed for the top 10% of students in high school chemistry who are in grade 12 Chemistry or who have completed Grade 12 Chemistry. For more information and the previous contests, refer to the following website.

     

  • Thompson Rivers University Chemistry Contest: Since May of 1997 TRU (UCC) has been offering annual written tests as a Chemistry Contest based on the B.C. Chemistry curriculum for Chemistry 11 and Chemistry 12 students. For more information and samples of previous contestsm, refer to the following website.



     

  • Canadian Chemistry Olympiad: The Canadian Chemistry Olympiad (CCO) is held annually to promote interest in chemistry amongst high school students. Participants are selected for a team for International Chemistry Olympiadamong from the very top high school chemistry students who are in Grade 12 Chemistry or who have completed Grade 12 Chemistry. Participation in the Canadian Finals or an International Olympiad is a tremendous experience and a unique opportunity to travel and meet fellow students from around the world who have similar interests.


  • Avagadro Exam: The Avogadro Exam consists of 40 multiple-choice questions, some easy, some tough, under the general headings: Structure of Matter, Bonding, Reactions, Solutions, and Gases, and a general knowledge of current affairsFor any students completing their first high school chemistry course (Grade 11).The exam may involve a few probing and demanding questions on some of the main topics of high school chemistry. Certain mathematical skills closely related to the study of chemistry will be tested, and there will be a few questions on chemical topics not normally covered in high school.



  • Chem 13 News Exam: The exam is used to select candidates for University of Waterloo scholarships and is not used as a criterion for admission to university studies. The Chem 13 News Exam consists of 40 multiple-choice questions, some easy, some tough, under the general headings: Organic, Equilibria, Kinetics, Oxidation-Reduction, Bonding, Structure, Reactions, Solutions, Gases, and a general knowledge of current affairs. The exam will cover material that a well-read senior high school chemistry student is likely to have come across in the course of studies. There may be a few probing and demanding questions on some of the main topics of high school chemistry. Certain mathematical skills closely related to the study of chemistry will be tested, and there will be a few questions on chemical topics not normally covered in high school.
