University Courses

Usually undergraduate students start to learn organic chemistry in the second year. This is because students at this stage have obtained quite strong foundamental chemistry knowledge from General Chemistry course taken in the first year. Organic Chemistry course is generally split to two parts and completed in two terms in the 2nd year. In the 3rd year of the undergraduate study students usually learn more advanced sections of organic chemistry such as Organic Synthesis, Polymer Chemistry, etc.

The instructing sessions are designed to help undergraduate students who are taking Organic Chemistry courses in the 2nd or 3rd year such as CHEM2020, CHEM2030 at York University, CHM138H, CHM247S, CHM249S, CHM348F, CHM347F, CHM343S, CHM342F at the University of Toronto, 2E03, 2OA3, 2OB3, 2OC3, 2OD3, 3D03, 4D03 at McMaster University, and CHEM2213a, CHEM2223 at University of Western Ontario, etc. For convenience of most students in Ontario we choose following textbooks for this course. However, our instructing/tutoring sessions do not limit to these textbooks. Any textbooks in any versions designed for undergraduate students can be used in the instructing sessions .

The full Organic Chemistry course covers 26 chapters of topics including Structure and Properties of Organic Molecules, Stereochemistry, Nucleophilic Substitution and Elimination, IR, NMR and MS, Reaction Mechanism, and different functional organic compounds. About 2000 slides and hundreds of practice questions and answers are available.
